Over 300 student rowers from Yorkshire descended upon the Octagon as SURC hosted the annual BUCS Indoor Rowing Championships. The day was a roaring success, we had the biggest event in the country and three Junior British records were broken!
With the introduction of the 1000m race for beginners as well as the traditional 2000m for seniors there was stiff competition all round. We were also proud to be the only event to offer a Veterans category. I won't go through each of the 30 races, rather repetitive as I'm sure you can imagine. Safe to say some athletes went off to hard and faded, others too light and couldn't pull back, and some with thighs of steel recorded very impressive times. Thank you to all that helped with the organisation and those that attended and made it such an enjoyable day.
Congratulations to winners:
Men 2000m: Oliver Degerstadt (York)
Women 2000m: Harriet Cornick (Salford)
